Is Good, Good Enough

For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
Romans 5:19

When Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate that fateful fruit at the urging of the serpent, they received knowledge of all evil things. Things completely unknown to them—disease, wickedness and death—were released onto the earth.

They did not receive the things Satan had promised. Instead, they became clothed in the filthy apparel of unrighteousness. They had sinned and broken the intimate connection between God and man.

Why do we now think that living a good life is enough to save us? Why do we try to “earn” our salvation by doing good deeds and looking like “good people”? The Bible clearly states, “all our righteous acts are like filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6).

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” ( John 14:6). He is the only way into God’s presence.

We can’t earn our salvation. Eternal life is only offered through faith in our Savior Jesus Christ.
